This presentation will encompass the following skill development: 1) How to determine needed skills for high quality local IEP meetings. 2) How to distribute training in those skills in a manner which includes stakeholders. 3) How to replicate specific skills (communication, collaboration and conflict management)taught in MDE's latest state trainings for local lEP members. 4)The context of those trainings, referencing a past training and future areas of need. Participant outcomes: Participants will leave MDE's three-hour seminar able to replicate MDE's ability to develop training for IEP skill-building at the district level so state involvement will be less necessary and costly, and all students, who have a disability, will have creative and unique IEPs which work. Participants will be able to replicate training that is highly interactive and is based on quality adult learning that uses activities liberally. They will understand the need to allow their participants time for personal incorporation of new concepts. They will learn a process focused on adults being able to immediately access and use the new learning. Their focus will be on changing the way people look at conflict and how they process it internally. Participants will understand our method of working with the districts and state advocacy groups. They will be encouraged to replicate a similar system in their environment. Participants will be able to use their data to plan similar training.
