During this session, Parent Center staff from different states will demonstrate tools to help parents to be more prepared for Mediation and Facilitated IEP’s. Participants will also recognize issues they may need to consider before, during and after mediation and/or facilitated IEPs. The workshop will offer tips on helping parents to clarify their thinking, to explain their viewpoints effectively and to identify new ways to resolve special education disputes. A copy of a training manual on "Effective Participation" and a "Glossary" that includes dispute resolution terms for interpreters will be provided.
