Ms. DeSio received her Master's of Science degree in special education administration from Dominican College in San Rafael, CA. Her career was in special education as a teacher, program specialist, special education administrator and assistant superintendent of the San Luis Obispo County Office of Education until her retirement in 2004. Ms. DeSio served as a CA Special Education Local Plan Area (SELPA) administrator for over ten years. During that time she developed one of the 10 pilot special education mediation programs in CA and was a longtime advisory member of the California Department of Education Mediation Taskforce. Currently, she is an educational consultant and is a part-time staff member of LaVerne University. Because learning is a lifelong avocation, Ms. DeSio is enrolled in a doctoral program through Fielding University.
