Jim Gerl

James Gerl is a full time special education hearing officer with undergraduate and graduate degrees in political science, and holds a Juris Doctor degree.  He has also studied administrative law and trained mediators and hearing officers across the country.  He has decades of experience in special education dispute resolution, having previously served as both a due process hearing officer and a mediator in numerous states.  Mr. Gerl was also a special education state complaint investigator for two state education agencies.  Nationally, he has been a frequent speaker and presenter on various aspects of special education law and dispute resolution.
