Esperanza is mother to two boys, including a 4 year-old and a 14 year-old with ASD. She is also a sibling to an adult with Intellectual Disabilities with ASD. She currently serves as Associate Director for the Utah Parent Center (UPC). She has worked with many families in the state for approximately 10 years through the UPC. As a Spanish/English bilingual, Esperanza has delivered support through individualized consultations and IEP meeting attendance with families of diverse backgrounds, has provided the parental perspective in systems-level advocacy and committee work, and she has been involved with internal project coordination and direction. Esperanza’s education includes a Bachelor’s Degree in Linguistics and one in Sociology. She currently has a Master of Science in Human Development and Social Policy, along with a Graduate Certificate in Disability Studies, from the University of Utah.
